Why Holy Mackerel?
We teach them to float!
If a child is walking, they comprehend that moving their legs gets them places.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury related death among children ages 1 to 4. The majority of drownings and near-drownings occur in residential swimming pools and in open water sites.
For every child who dies from drowning, another 5 receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries. These injuries can cause severe brain damage that may result in long-term disabilities such as memory problems, learning disabilities, and permanent loss of basic functioning (e.g., permanent vegetative state). Choosing the best aquatics program available to you is an integral part of safeguarding your child from the danger water may pose to them.
Holy Mackerel Infant Aquatics assists in drowning prevention. While there is no such thing as "drown-proofing", and lessons do not take the place of watchful eyes, the skills learned in this program serve as yet another layer of water safety for your child.
Please visit Infant Aquatics for more information about the Infant Aquatics technique.
