Why Holy Mackerel?

Methodology

Our method is superior to other survival swim programs because it looks at the child’s current developmental stage and uses that information to have them reach their maximum potential.

We teach them to float!

If a baby can roll from belly to back on the ground, which typically happens at 6 months of age, they can do it in the water.

So we teach them to float!

We teach them to swim!

If a child is walking, they comprehend that moving their legs gets them places.

So we teach them to swim (and to float) and then swim again!

According to the Centers for Disease Control, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury related death among children ages 1 to 4. The majority of drownings and near-drownings occur in residential swimming pools and in open water sites.

For every child who dies from drowning, another 5 receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries. These injuries can cause severe brain damage that may result in long-term disabilities such as memory problems, learning disabilities, and permanent loss of basic functioning (e.g., permanent vegetative state). Choosing the best aquatics program available to you is an integral part of safeguarding your child from the danger water may pose to them.

Holy Mackerel Infant Aquatics assists in drowning prevention. While there is no such thing as "drown-proofing", and lessons do not take the place of watchful eyes, the skills learned in this program serve as yet another layer of water safety for your child.
